2015 Chevrolet Sonic, available as hatchback and as the 2015 Chevy Sonic Sedan, is an efficient and comfortable car by Chevrolet. The 2015 Chevrolet Sonic is newest expected version over the previous mixed brand names that Chevy has been using world over. The Chevrolet Aveo and Camaro have been around for years and now in North America, Chevy has settled down with the Sonic in place of others.
What 2015 Chevy Sonic changes are expected?
2015 Chevy Sonic is expected to get a refresh in minor form and not a generation change. The existing car may see updates in the bumper, headlamps, grille and rear lamp cluster. New alloy wheels design are expected and there may be fog lamp inserts in chrome. There may not be much change to the body and the basic design should remain the same including wing mirrors, side profile, fender design and the shape of the signature Chevy grille. The car is also expected to feature minor changes or limited addition to the color options for body paint. There may be new offerings in terms of standard equipment including use of LED in front and rear lamp clusters. The aerodynamic body is stable on the road and the car has good balance, featuring wheels from 15 inches to 17 inches, the car has a host of options one can choose to customize and tune up their own ride. Safety features include airbags for side, knees and dual stage. More features include Brake assist, DRLs, child safety, EBD, hill start assist, LATCH system, lane departure warning, rear view camera, tire pressure monitoring, traction control and many others.
2015 Chevy Sonic, interiors and comforts
2015 Chevrolet Sonic interiors are of decent quality and fit and finish is also good. The steering mounted controls are connected to the central touch based infotainment system that handles Bluetooth, audio, hands free and navigation features depending upon the trim. The HVAC is single zone manual and pretty straightforward. The heated outside mirrors have power adjustment and seats are heated for driver and passenger again as a trim dependent feature. The seats are well designed with a comfortable seating for a small car, plenty of legroom and just about enough headroom greets the passengers. Although the single zone air conditioner is a simple unit, the air throw is good albeit with a little more noise than a dual zone/ rear vent system. There is space near the front map pockets for fill sized bottles. A unique driver cockpit matches the Sonic SS and Sonic RS well in terms of a performance car. Rear visibility is good for a compact car, in fact much better than many SUVs. The hatchback has enough storage space in the boot for a couple, although large luggage will struggle to fit, for those who need a little more storage, the sedan version will do better.
2015 Chevy Sonic SS or RS (engines)?
Right now, there is no 2015 Chevy Sonic SS to talk about and it does not seem likely that it may be at the time of launch. There is an LS which has now become a global trim option for most Chevys worldwide, and there is the 2015 Chevy Sonic RS which will be available. There is an 1.8L 4 cylinder FWD engine that pushes out 138hp @ 6300 rpm along with 125 lb-ft torque @ 3800 rpm. Then there is the 1.4L Turbo engine that makes 138 hp too, albeit at 4900 rpm, along with 148 lb ft of torque. Manual transmission delivers this torque @ 2500 rpm while in the automatic gearbox, max torque delivery is @ 1850 rpm for this Turbo engine. Both engines get FWD drive manual or auto transmissions.
2015 Chevy Sonic release date & Price
2015 Chevy Sonic may be available by end of this year or early next year at the max. The current price (MSRP) starts at US $ 14170 for the sedan and 14770 for the hatchback, and is expected to be the price point for the new facelift version too.
